Ahead of the earnings call scheduled for 2 PM today, Apple has released its Q1 2013 earnings. The earnings are decidedly mixed with narrowly missing estimates with $54.5 billion in revenue, but beating estimates with $13.1 billion in profit. In the crucial device department metric, iPhone sales were up 23%, iPads up 33%, but iMacs down 22% and iPods also down 18%.

In addition to all the other rumors about the next iPhone, one that is not inconceivable (and certainly interesting) is that the next iPhone could come in colors like the iPod touch does. Not a totally crazy idea, the only question is: how. Like in many things in this world, simplicity is best.

One of the main selling points for BlackBerry in the enterprise has been BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server). Apple wasn’t the only one to realise the true potential of Siri while it was in its early stages. According to The Huffington Post, in the fall of 2009, before Siri was acquired by Apple, Verizon had struck a deal with the startup to preinstall the virtual assistant in all of its Android phones to be introduced later that year.

VisionMobile has released their 2013 developer platform, tools, and economics report and the results of the survey aren’t too surprising. Developers target iOS first, Android next, and Blackberry is holding onto third place. Windows phone is stuck in a “wait and see” pattern, but HTML is still in the running for its cross-platform code.

Last week, Judge Lucy Koh ordered Tim Cook, Google’s Eric Schmidt, Intel’s Paul Otellini, and other tech company execs to be deposed in a class-action lawsuit filed by tech company employees over “do not call” no poaching practices. This lawsuit, claims not only damage to employee’s potential salaries, but also for violating a 2010 agreement with the Justice Department over the practice.
